As we approach the end of the first week of lockdown 2.0, the Huq Index shows that footfall across the UK’s foodservice outlets appears to be holding stronger than it did when businesses were forced close earlier this year.
Following a sharp drop on summer levels, the trend of footfall levelling out has continued over the last week with levels yet to drop much lower than a fifth of usual trade. By contrast, April through to June this year saw levels drop and stay near zero.
The Huq Index shows how Quick Service Restaurants have suffered the biggest drop in footfall over the last few weeks with Pubs and Restaurants more resilient. Could the sector have adapted to be better geared towards takeaways this time round? Further analysis in the coming days will show how consumer continue to react to the new regulations.
