The European defence industry is making a strong recovery from the effects of the pandemic as worker activity reaches its highest level since the outbreak began. On-site staffing has reached over 70 percent of pre-Covid 19 figures, and are continuing to rise ahead of the wider European industrial sector.
During the first lockdown, activity in the industry slumped to just 10 per cent of normal levels has since climbed steadily towards recovery. This comes in contrast to other sectors – especially consumer – which remain suppressed. Validated by reports of better-than-expected manufacturing productivity from Eurostat, this strong performance is an example of good news in an otherwise challenged environment.
