Vodafone is partnering with Huawei on a 5G RAN network and Iliad has been looking to grow its customer base with aggressive pricing for 5G. Home Price Gains More Than Tripled Over the Past Year

From CoreLogic
National home prices increased 15.4% year over year in May 2021, according to the latest CoreLogic Home Price Index (HPI®) Report. The May 2021 HPI gain was up from the May 2020 gain of 4.2% and was the highest year-over-year gain since November 2005. Low mortgage rates and low for-sale inventory drove the increase in home prices. While a pick-up in construction and an increase in for-sale listings as more homeowners get vaccinated may help moderate surging home price growth, affordability challenges may drive some potential home buyers out of the market which could reduce demand.

Top 10 most downloaded P2P payment apps in the world in H1 2021

From Apptopia
PayPal was the most downloaded P2P payment app in the world in the first half of 2021. P2P stands for “peer-to-peer,” and sometimes “person-to-person.” Either way, P2P describes the transfer of funds between two individuals. If you’ve ever split a restaurant bill, you’ve likely participated in a P2P payment, and understand how helpful P2P payment apps are. Many of the top P2P payment apps offer financial services beyond P2P payments (think: merchant services for SMBs), but we consider a P2P payment app to be any app that offers and is known for having a P2P feature.

From Apptopia
Since December 1 2020, cumulative downloads of the top vaccine passport apps have grown to over 10 million globally. This post and the image below will be updated every Monday with new data. The apps above provide digital proof of identity and select health records. The vast majority of countries are not requiring people to be vaccinated for them to visit, which is why uptake has been low. Still, these apps can register COVID-19 test results which the majority of countries will require before entering their borders.

South Korea leads the 5G race and lays out the blueprint for the rest of the world

From SpeedCheck
The US operators have misled Americans since 2019 about the capabilities that 5G can offer. Remember AT&T claiming 4G as 5G, with its new logo and icon 5GE. Still today, the US carriers are confusing the public with different names of 5G. For instance, AT&T uses three different nomenclature for 5G, such as 5GE, 5G and 5G plus. The same is the case with Verizon, which has two flavours of 5G, namely 5G Ultrawideband and 5G Nationwide. These are all the marketing tactics to hide US operators' incapability, which still fail to provide fast and seamless 5G like South Korea.

COVID’s Impact on Flight Punctuality

From OAG
It won’t come as a surprise to know that On-Time Performance (OTP) has improved with the reduction in flights, particularly at the scale of reduction that the aviation industry is currently experiencing. Taxiways are not congested, airports are not operating at capacity, and airspace is currently unconstrained – essentially many markets still remain closed to each other, and people are not yet free to travel without a complicated set of quarantine and testing requirements.

An Encouraging Week for Many Airlines - Then A Bubble Burst and an Outbreak Occurs

From OAG
The headline data looks encouraging, another 3.1 million more seats operating than last week, 4.1% growth week-on-week and global capacity now at 78.6 million. For context that is “only” 40 million fewer than the same week in 2019 although some 29 million ahead of the same week last year so that is positive. In line with continued lockdowns and confusion over travel requirements, a further 8 million seats have been removed by airlines for sale during the rest of July and a further 6.7 million for August. The chances of saving the summer for the airline industry have all but disappeared.

U.S. Market Recovery Monitor - 26 June 2021

From STR
While summer travel has not yet been “record-breaking” as some predicted, growth for the U.S. hotel industry has simply been spectacular over the past month. We expect that June will produce more than 110 million room nights sold, the most since October 2019. Room revenues have also been a pleasant surprise and are predicted to be down just 10% from what they were in June 2019. Last week’s results added to the good news with most metrics reaching pandemic-era highs. Occupancy for the week ending 26 June 2021 hit 69.9%, which was the industry’s highest level in 88 weeks.

Food Delivery Services' Ad Spend is Higher Than Pre-Pandemic Times

From Pathmatics
In a typical pre-pandemic day, around 492,000 orders were placed on the GrubHub platform. In 2020, GrubHub received roughly 623,000 orders per day. The food delivery boom can be attributed to people avoiding grocery stores and restaurants, as well as efforts by brick-and-mortar restaurants and retailers to provide safe, contactless options during the pandemic. Food delivery services DoorDash, GrubHub, and Instacart have spent more on digital advertising than before lockdowns were in place, so let’s compare their ad spend since 2020 and where their peak spends lie.
